A problem occured when attempting to connect to the LittleBigPlanet™ server (402)

UPDATE NOV. 6th 2008: Yup, the servers are down (again) but this time it was a pre-scheduled maintenance. From PlayStation.com Forums:

Please note that the LittleBigPlanet online servers will be down for essential maintenance on Thursday November 6th between 8am and 5pm GMT. During this period the offline game will be unaffected as we work to improve online performance. So keep playing or creating and we’ll have some shiny new servers ready for when we get back.

Looks like our they have found a solution for the server problems (Fingures crossed).

UPDATE Oct. 28th: You’re probably experiencing the same problem. This is because Media Molecule had to take the servers down to fix some issues. Read more.

UPDATE (Oct. 27th 2008): The servers are up and running! Enjoy :)

Is there anything wrong with LittleBigPlanet game servers?

It was quiet exciting to see LittleBigPlanet available on shelves today. Many have already purchased their copies, brought it home to spend the whole weekend playing it but once they ran the game and finished the first introduction/tutorial, they faced this ugly error message:

A problem occured when attempting to connect to the LittleBigPlanet™ server (402)

Don’t worry! You can still play everything locally! The story mode works perfect which is more than enough for your weekend. This error message is because LittleBigPlanet servers are simply not up yet!

Sam_protagonist, has confirmed that the servers will go up on Oct. 27th:

The game servers will go up on the morning of the official release date which is October 27th. You may well get your copy of the game before that date, however the servers will only come online on the 27th. You may even get patched before that date, but that has no bearing on the servers being up.
